As a logistics medewerker at GLS in Utrecht, you will contribute to the smooth and reliable processing of thousands of packages every day. In this role, you’ll work in a dynamic environment where teamwork, precision, and safety are key. Whether you’re loading trucks, sorting parcels, or preparing shipments, your efforts ensure that packages reach their destinations on time. This is a physically active role in a warehouse setting, which can be cool due to open docks, and involves handling heavier packages regularly.
What You Will Do:
- Loading and unloading: ensuring trucks are efficiently loaded and emptied.
- Sorting and scanning: organizing packages and checking them for accuracy and damage.
- Goods processing: moving and preparing shipments for transport using tools like hand pallet trucks.
- Maintaining safety: keeping your workspace clean and reporting any irregularities to your team leader.
- Staying active: performing physical tasks throughout your shift in a fast-paced environment.
At GLS, we believe in recognizing your hard work and providing you with opportunities to grow in a supportive and dynamic environment. Here’s what you can expect when you join our team:
- Hourly salary of €14.99, excluding potential shift allowances.
- Temporary contract with the prospect of a permanent position.
- Flexible part-time or full-time options, starting from 16 hours per week.
- Travel reimbursement of €0.23 per kilometer.
- 8% holiday allowance for extra financial support.
- Training opportunities, including EPT certification, for career growth.

Definition: Private context given to the interview agent so it can assess whether a candidate's answer is sufficient or needs further probing. This information is never shared with the candidate.
Candidate must have a valid BSN or existing work permit. GLS does not sponsor work permits.
This is warehouse work (sorting, loading, heavy lifting), not a delivery/driving role. Many applicants confuse the two.
The role involves heavy lifting and standing for the full shift, every shift, in a cold or partially outdoor environment. This isn't occasional — it's the daily reality. The concern is whether they can sustain this long-term, not just for a trial day.
Public transport is not available at the start of the morning shift or the end of the night shift. If a candidate wants morning or night shifts and does not have their own transport, probe how they plan to get to/from work consistently.
There is no weekend work — candidates must be available on weekdays only.
Candidates must be available for at least 2 days per week.
If they have other jobs or commitments, find out whether scheduling conflicts are likely.
Students are welcome, provided their class schedule genuinely fits the shifts they're requesting (verify — don't just take their word) and they can commit to at least 2 weekdays per week.
If a student is applying during summer, find out whether they want to stay on after summer or are only looking for a few weeks.
Rehires require client approval. Whether they've worked at GLS before must always be established.
GLS is always hiring and needs people quickly. Find out how soon the candidate can start.
Prior warehouse or logistics experience is a plus — these candidates typically know what to expect and ramp up faster.
