What are my responsibilities?
As the Head Baker, you will lead our bakery team in crafting exceptional baked goods that go beyond expectations. With a dedication to handcrafting techniques and an eye for detail, you will ensure every loaf, pastry, and cake reflects the artisanal quality and creative flair that define our brand.
You will inspire and guide your team, providing training and support to maintain high standards of craftsmanship and efficiency. Your role includes developing and perfecting recipes that feature seasonal ingredients and innovative flavor combinations, bringing fresh ideas to every bake.
From ingredient preparation to final presentation, you will oversee the entire baking process, making sure every product is consistent, fresh, and meets the highest food safety standards. Working closely with management, you will plan production schedules, manage inventory, and streamline workflows to keep the bakery running smoothly.
Always curious and in tune with the latest trends and techniques, you will continuously seek new ways to elevate our offerings and refine our baking craft, creating memorable moments with every bite.

To be eligible for this position you...
Proven experience as a Head Baker or similar role in a boutique bakery or upscale culinary establishment.
Extensive knowledge of baking techniques, including dough preparation, fermentation, shaping, and baking, modern and traditional viennoiserie, sourdough starter, with a focus on artisanal methods and handcrafting.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve excellence.
Proven track record for a successful bakery with a strong creative flair and a passion for innovation, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering visually stunning and flavorful baked goods.
Excellent time management and organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to work night shifts and weekends as required to meet production demands.

A unique opportunity is awaiting you in the city centre of one of the most dynamic markets in Europe. We are excited that the Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel is currently undergoing a full transformation. A major investment has been made in the hotel which will result in completely renovated guest rooms and public areas, including a brand-new lobby bar, bakery & restaurant and a rooftop bar & terrace. The hotel will expand from 402 to 500 rooms and an additional conference centre will be constructed. The Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel has a very high focus on sustainability and will aim to become an enhancement to the city of Amsterdam.
