Clayton Hotel Amsterdam American, part of the Dalata Hotel Group, is a 4-star, 173-room hotel nestled in one of the most beautiful art nouveau buildings in the Netherlands. Objective of the Role
As a Waiter at Bar Americain, you're at the heart of the guest experience - delivering exceptional service with passion, professionalism, and attention to detail. Whether welcoming guests for relaxed afternoon drinks or lively evening cocktails, you'll ensure every visit feels special from the first greeting to the final farewell.
You'll expertly recommend and serve a wide range of premium beverages - from classic cocktails and fine wines to beers - using your knowledge and enthusiasm to anticipate guest needs and exceed expectations. Adaptable and team-focused, you'll support your colleagues through busy service periods and keep the bar buzzing with energy and rhythm.

Key Responsibilities
Know Your Beverage Menu Inside Out
- Be fully familiar with the cocktail, spirits, beer, and wine menus - including ingredients, origins, and pairings - to confidently assist guests and answer questions. Of course, we will train you!
Create a Welcoming and Lively Atmosphere
- Greet guests warmly with a smile and positive attitude, making each visitor feel valued from the moment they arrive.
- Maintain the bar and surrounding seating areas - keeping glassware, tools, garnishes, floors, lighting, and décor clean, tidy, and inviting at all times.
Serve with Excellence
- Take drink orders accurately and efficiently, offering knowledgeable recommendations and upselling premium options where appropriate.
- Deliver beverages promptly, ensuring every guest receives complete, precise, and flawless service.
Communicate and Collaborate
- Maintain clear, positive communication with colleagues to ensure seamless, energetic service from set-up to last call.
- Participate actively in team meetings to stay informed about new products, procedures, and events.
Handle Challenges Calmly
- Resolve guest concerns professionally using property procedures, turning challenges into positive experiences.
Go the Extra Mile
- Take initiative to assist guests and colleagues wherever needed to create a seamless, memorable bar experience.
- Handle payments accurately and efficiently, managing guest tabs through the POS system.
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for a Waiter who brings passion, professionalism, and a genuine love for premium beverages and exceptional service. Here's what makes a great fit:
- At least 1 year of experience in a bar, lounge, or high-end hospitality setting, with a strong or growing knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wines, and beers - or are eager to learn
- Fluent in English (bonus points for Dutch or any other languages you speak!)
- Friendly, professional, and presentable, with excellent communication skills
- Calm under pressure, flexible, and able to juggle busy service times with a smile
- Proactive, attentive to detail, and eager to learn - especially about our beverage menu and POS system
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
- MBO+ level work- and thinking skills or equivalent
- Must meet legal age requirements for alcohol service
