What you'll be doing
Your specific duties as a warehouse assistant at UPS will depend on the department you're working in. This could be in the inbound, outbound, order picking or warehouse operations departments, for example. Your tasks might include:
- Receiving, checking and processing incoming goods
- Picking and preparing orders for dispatch
- Scanning and registering products using a hand-held scanner
- Sorting, packing and repacking goods
- Loading and unloading lorries
- Carrying out stock management and logistical administrative tasks
At the UPS warehouse, you'll be working with a wide range of products, including medical supplies, high-tech goods and consumer goods. It's therefore important that you work in accordance with the applicable safety and quality guidelines. Depending on the department, you'll work in a standard warehouse environment or in a temperature-controlled area. Naturally, you'll be provided with the appropriate protective clothing and instructions.
