Your role

Given the current team constellation, we are looking for a highly skilled financial markets professional with at least 10 years working experience preferably in a financial institution. You will help us to make the next step in managing FMO’s balance sheet including the liquidity portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and risk appetite. You execute interest rate and foreign exchange transactions to manage financial risks on FMO’s balance sheet and enhance financial performance. You monitor financial markets closely to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and make informed trading decisions accordingly. You take ownership of results, including performance against benchmarks and key performance indicators (KPIs). In addition, you contribute to advisory of our investment departments when doing business with FMO’s clients.

To be able to do so, you have managed the liquidity portfolio (bonds) of a bank, including the use of (cross currency) interest swaps, or you have been managing a fixed income and rates trading position. You have been responsible for managing the risks related to these products and/or been responsible for the results. You have deep knowledge of financial markets and the treasury products used by banks, including the applicable regulation to manage the relevant regulatory ratios to target levels and optimize the position within risk limits and allocated capital budget.

You are a proactive team player looking for an opportunity to join an international, high skilled and ambitious team. You will add value to a Treasury team with multiple responsibilities and tasks in a dynamic environment, dealing with both internal stakeholders as well as external stakeholders (investors, investment banks, regulators). In addition to The role requires that you will engage with the operations, risk, finance and compliance teams to keep oversight of the processes and optimize these where needed.

You can deal with cultural differences, conflicting interests, complex and unforeseen challenges to constructively cooperate with different departments, building a sustainable, effective, and efficient working environment. You will ensure that the activities you are responsible for will be performed to an exceptional standard, you are innovative and come up with proposals to further improve the Treasury and support effective decision taking. You ask for feedback to support personal development and provide constructive feedback to support ongoing learning and development of the team members.

You are proactive and have strong writing and communication skills in English. We expect the Senior Treasury Officer to have a risk-aware attitude in the way of working: you consider the risks in the activities, proposals you make, and decisions you take. You have a quantitative background, strong modelling, and analytical skills, and are able to present and report complex content in an easy and transparent way.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of our treasury function.

The new Senior Treasury Officer reports directly to the Director Treasury.

FMO’s Treasury has the following core activities:

  • Debt and capital issuance: attract long term funding (total funding outstanding approximately EUR 6 bln; annual issuance of EUR 1.5 bln per annum) through bonds or capital instruments. This includes the issuance of ESG bonds, which proceeds are allocated to green and/or social projects aimed at reducing inequality;
  • Day to day Treasury front office activities: Cash management: manage FMO’s cash and short-term liquidity positions. Advice: Treasury provides advice to the business on treasury aspects of FMO’s investment activities such as the structuring of local currency solutions, determination of the base rate for fixed rate loans provided to our clients, redeployment and breakage cost calculations, etc;
  • Manage liquidity and treasury counterparty risk: manage the HQLA/Treasury liquidity portfolio of the bank by investing in short and long term HQLA debt instruments (investment book of around EUR 1.5bn in short- and long-term investments, currencies EUR and USD);
  • Manage market risks (i.e. Interest / fx / spread & basis risk) within limits. Hedge and manage market risks stemming from FMO’s business and Treasury activities by executing derivatives transactions, such as interest and cross currency swaps as well as FX hedges;
  • Represent FMO to global financial markets: investor relations, rating agency relations, bank relations.

The Treasury is also involved in or in the lead of various projects related to for instance regulatory changes, ongoing improvements in processes, policies as well as the introduction of new products.

Your background

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience infinancial markets, preferably within a financial institutionin treasury, trading, structuring orALM skillswith extensive knowledge of products such as cash instruments and, IR and FX derivatives;
  • Experience in managing, modelling, or monitoring financial risks.

Personality

  • Ability to collaborate across cultures, departments, and disciplines such as investment officers, back office, legal, risk and finance;
  • Professional, well structured, organized, ability to multitask and act in changing situations;
  • Pro-active: identify opportunities to improve, take pre-emptive action, make proposals to support effective decision taking;
  • Team player pushing things forward in a constructive, persistent manner;
  • Risk aware: capable of assessing and accepting risks in line with FMO’s risk appetite;
  • Result-driven: attention for quality and excellence;
  • Accountable: take ownership of own work and that of other’s.

Skills

  • Master’s degree in finance, economics or quantitative studies;
  • The company language is English;
  • Analytical, modelling (Excel), reporting and presentation skills: ability to present complex content in an easy and transparent way;
  • Good communication skills: speak up, ask questions, challenge, share information and seek feedback;
  • Able to identify and solve complex problems independently. Know when to ask for support from other experts.
