Vacancy informationOur client is looking for an Instrumentation Engineer who can progress in the short term into the role of Controls Engineer, with an intended start date of 2 March 2026. The position begins with an approximately one-year onboarding period as an Instrumentation Engineer, during which you will be thoroughly trained in the organization, products, and processes. After this period, you will transition into the Controls Engineer role.
Instrumentation Engineer (initial position)
As an Instrumentation Engineer, you are responsible for the selection and specification of instrumentation for Energy producing equipment. You prepare technical specifications for procurement, review supplier quotations and documentation, and work closely with project team members such as process, design, and supply engineering. You ensure that contractual requirements are met and that interfaces between disciplines are correctly implemented.
You will prepare documentation including:
- Instrument lists
- Equipment specifications
- Technical data sheets
You will be responsible for:
- Transmitters
- Temperature element assemblies
- Local instrumentation
- Flow measurement devices
- Instrument hook-ups
- Instrumentation on package units (e.g. Burners, SCRs)
Controls Engineer (growth position)
As a Controls Engineer, you define the boundary conditions for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the installation. This role does not focus on automation programming itself; instead, you analyze and understand the process and translate it into clear control narratives and logic diagrams.
You will work closely with other disciplines such as instrumentation, electrical, thermal, and design life engineering, and participate in customer and site meetings related to safety, controls, and testing.
Your responsibilities include:
- Preparing system descriptions (control narratives)
- Developing Functional Control Diagrams
- Defining start-up, shut-down, and operational philosophies
- Participating in HAZOP studies and SIL assessments
- Specifying Burner Management Systems
- Participating in Factory Acceptance Tests (Process Control Systems)
- Providing site support related to controls

What do you need- BSc or MSc degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Chemical Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Process Technology)
- Several years work experience within an Engineering environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
- Able to work independently and manage tight schedules
- Capable of distinguishing between main and side issues
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken
€55000.00 - €75000.00 monthly
