Project Engineer Structural
, you are responsible for managing all activities within the Construction discipline for a specific project. You lead a dedicated team and take ownership of the scope, planning, and budget for your area of responsibility. From the handover by the Lead Engineer, you ensure a fully coordinated, high-quality, and timely development of the final design, from basic principles and detailed engineering to 3D models, drawings, data sheets, and other technical documentation.You safeguard technical quality, adherence to regulations, and alignment across disciplines by working closely with fellow Project Engineers. In addition, you actively contribute to the growth of the department through mentoring, quality improvements, and fostering innovation in engineering processes.
Key Responsibilities
Technical
- Ensure compliance with technical specifications, regulations, and project requirements.
- Evaluate the feasibility and manufacturability of the yacht in collaboration with other disciplines.
- Support the Project Manager Engineering (PME) in defining the project scope.
- Oversee project development phases, approve designs, resolve complex technical challenges, and ensure adherence to Class and Flag regulations.
- Identify technical bottlenecks and propose well-founded, multidisciplinary solutions.
- Flag missing or incorrect information and potential risks to the PME.
- Collaborate with other Project Engineers to ensure effective interdisciplinary design integration.
Quality
- Provide clear instructions to internal and external engineers regarding technical and quality standards.
- Guide and coach engineers, ensuring timely updates to drawings and project documentation.
- Supervise inspection processes for drawings and deliverables before they are shared with production or regulatory bodies.
- Monitor quality across all project phases.
- Take responsibility for the project-specific Scope of Work (SOW) documentation.
Budget, Progress, and Planning
- Participate in meetings with clients, production teams, and project stakeholders.
- Support the PME in preparing schedules and resource planning.
- Create discipline-specific timelines for engineering deliverables.
- Keep the PME informed on progress, planning, and any issues related to your discipline.
- Distribute and coordinate tasks within your engineering team or external partners.
- Act as the central contact for documentation and information management, providing updates to the PME.
Communication
- Engage directly with the client’s representatives to align on project goals, negotiate requirements, and report progress.
- Collaborate with the PME on project progress and performance.
- Coordinate with the Project Lead for discipline-specific matters.
- Consult with the Lead Engineer for technical expertise and guidance.
- Guide junior and senior engineers within your discipline and oversee their work.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary design efforts with fellow Project Engineers.
- Supervise subcontractors and maintain quality standards for outsourced work.
- Manage communication with suppliers regarding equipment integration.
- Work closely with production teams to review engineering outputs and gather feedback.

Aanbod- Competitive salary between €3.800 – €6.500 per month (based on knowledge and experience).
- 38 days off (25 vacation days and 13 ADV days for full-time employment).
- One-year contract with the intention to become permanent (subject to the decisions of the board of the company).
- Travel allowance based on €0.23 per kilometer for commuting distance.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in shipbuilding.
- Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams.
- Proficiency with 3D AutoCAD, Teamcenter NX, and Cadmatic software.
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
- Strong communication skills and ability to adapt to different stakeholders.
- Experience with exterior engineering, moving equipment, and systems integration.
- Familiarity with cable and panel planning, onboard systems, and budgeting processes.
- In-depth technical knowledge of yacht construction and production processes.
